The other day I went out for a test drive in my 85 after replacing my broken driver's side power window ribbon and managed to snap off the pivot for my throttle pedal. I drilled out the rivet that the pedal pivots on and I am planning to fabricate a new mount out of aluminum but I was wondering if there is already an existing aftermarket solution that is stronger than stock?
All I can say is I love my C4 but if only it didn't require so much maintenance. This is supposed to be my reliable daily driver so I can work on my project vehicle (93 GMC Typhoon). I'm starting to feel like a Ferrari owner here...
Its a common problem on earlier C4's. I darn near killed lots of people at an autox when my gas pedal mount broke and fell under my brake pedal while going flat out. Try a late model 95 or 96 pedal. GM added a steel reinforcement to solve the problem. It only took them 10 years.
