Default HELP! installing ZF S6-40

i am in the middle of replacing my transmission with a new one, but cant seem to get it the last couple inches I'm thinking its binding on the splines of the clutch but am not sure.
are there any helpful hints for this procedure?
i have tried varying the hight of both the transmission and the engine with no luck.

any help would be great!
thanks.

connect the slave.

have someone sit inside and push down the clutch pedal as you push the trans and it will slide in.

Since it is a new one, it IS for a LT1 and not for a ZR1. The Z's input shaft is slightly longer.

ill measure the input shaft today, also its a black tag transmission and the stock one was a blue i read that the black tags might stand up to more abuse but were in earlier years. I did not know if this might be one of the problems
might the specifications be different?

It's probably the throw out bearing, there are two sizes (diameter about 1/16" different). Pull the trans back out and insure the throw out bearing slides over the input shaft.

Like ZR1fred said the TO bearing are different for the blue and black tag ZF 6 speeds. The black tag has a larger diameter input shaft so it needs a TO bearing with a larger inside diameter. The reason you can not get the transmission all the way in is because the TO bearing will not go over the input shaft. You'll need to replace your TO bearing with one for the early years ZF 6 speed (89 thru 92 or 93). I learned this the hard way myself as well when I set up my car with a ZF 6 speed.
