Hey guys; Just replaced the opti, coil, & coil module. Car has 80,000 miles & is basically stock. Runs fine, but is throwing the 42 code.
1. What do you think the problem may be & how do I test for it
2. Am I risking burning yet another Opti by using the car before the
code 42 problem is resolved
Thsnks
Have now changed the PCU, still get the code 42. Anybody got any ideas?

Reason: Updated info
According to the info I have, if your car starts, then the code 42 is intermittent. Code 42 is only suppose to set during cranking if there is no pcm signal to the ignition circuit, but if it starts then its getting the signal. I don't think you're hurting anything by driving it.
Thanks Paul: Whats the chance that the PCM is going out. I Canged the first opti at 72000 & it was bad by 80000 (used OEM part). I'm concerned that something besides a faulty opti is going on here.
