Default AFR heads feedback please

I would like to hear the opinions of people who have used AFR 190 heads on their normally asperated 350cid engines. I am still torn between having my stock heads ported or purchasing all new heads. Although new AFRs are the same price as having my old heads ported by LPE or TPIS. Help me make the correct decision.

I have the AFR 190's going on my 383. From what I have seen on the flow numbers, they should outflow L98 heads.

The AFR 190s will flow more than a ported stock head.

The proted L-98 heads will give more speed as the air enters the combustion chamber hence more low end torque, this is one reason tuners like Lingenfelter likes them; (plus it's cheaper for them). The AFR's have a lot more metal in them which is better for durability and for nitrous or a supercharger. I have heard that all AFR's are made from the same casting and the company just does different port work on them. I haven't confirmed this, but if it's true you can take a set of 190's and make them into 215's in the future... :cool:
