Default Recommendations on brake rotors?

I'm going to be replacing my brake rotors on my 87 Z52. Anyone wanna recommend some? I'd like to keep my spending under $300 for all 4.

i don't really see how it's possible to do all four under $300. there's not one aftermarket rotor that sells for cash like that. anyone else have ideas? you could do the front rotors for $300

Get four stock ones.

a) Our stock wheels don't show them anyways.
b) Unless your road racing, you need not worry about the needs of drilled/slotted.

I paid $75/ea for stock replacements. I think 18carfan can get them cheaper.

Forget about drilled, a total waste of money. PBR Australia, who make the C5 Calipers, have tested flat, drilled and slotted. In the opinion of their chief engineer flat and slotted are the choice before drilled. The drilled ones have a tendancy to crack over a period of time and the stopping power of the all three are virtually identical. The Z06 braking test data verifies this and they ain't slotted or drilled, just flat.

I just checked on a set of RAYBESTOS rotors for my ZR-1. The fronts were about $95.13 and the rear I think were about $59.00. Those prices are Jobber prices!

Time to do the GrandSport or C5 upgrade on the brakes. I went with GS rotors and calipers nad also added the DRM bias spring. My braking is night and day.

The Grand Sport rotors are not "better" for braking. The center hub is sprayed with some paint to resist rust which you can do yourself for $4. Some on-line GM parts retailers are selling big ZR1/J55/Z51/ZO7 front rotors for around $70 and rears for around $50. Standard fronts are cheaper. I personally prefer aftermarket rotors like Bendix, AIMCO/KONI or Raybestos that sell for $85/$55 at places like Auto Zone, Pep Boys or Advance Auto with a 2 yr warranty. Again, I'm talking the big optional brakes.

Spend $600 and get some hi-tech BAER calipers and rotors for the front, then just replace the rear with performance pads. :D
