How do I reach 18carfan(Jeff)?
How do I reach 18carfan(Jeff)? I need a cap and rotor set for my 1992 Opti spark set up.

you need to replace the entire opti... those parts are a waste of money and time... you also need a new waterpump they are replaced together... if the opti is bad, the pump more than likely caused it.

Ditto:::: If your going to spend the time to replace the opti, do it right and install a whole new one, and while you're there you might as well do the pump too. :cheers:

And if you're gonna replace it, you might as well upgrade to a later model opti to avoid future problems. You'll need a timing cover, harness, vent tubes and new style AC Delco optispark. Jeff should have them. The newer opti is cheaper also so upgrading is not much more.

GM should come up with a waterpump/opti package.. and it should be LOW COST since they screwed up on the design... :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Actually, my opti is not bad. I have a new water pump as well. I was lucky and caught a problem with my pump before it leaked. I am in the process of doing a LOT of work to my car, and I thought it would be a good idea to just replace the cap and rotor while I was under the hood. I also have a vent kit that I plan to install while it is apart.
