Default Tranny leaking

Hey guys,

I have another damn problem. My 94' is leaking tranny fluid. it started suddenly and is leaking pretty bad. I cant really drive it as the fluid leaks back on the exhaust and starts smoking. How hard is it to remove the tranny on a C4 as i think it is the front seal?

My rear seal is leaking and I get smoke too, but not too bad. but it should be any easy fix for me.. are you sure it is the front ?..

Try cleaning everything and then drive a bit and see if you can see any new drops Trans fluid and where it is coming from ? maybe you get lucky and it will not be the front seal.. if it is.. you may as well take it out and get the trans freshened up...

After taking it off it several times it's not too hard but a PIA.
Renting a tranny cradle helps bigtime IMO. if you have a FSM or even a Haynes/Chiltons the instructions are very detailed becasue you have to remove the exhaust, (suppt the rear and cradle the tranny) remove backbone/driveshaft, and unbolt tranny. I think there are a few other things that need to be done such as marking the rear driveshaft to the differential so your car stays balanced. And tweaking out the backbone will cause you to learn new swear words.
