I had read several posts concerning hp improvement with the Ed Wright programming. Am wondering if this programming will improve the performance of my LT4? Have used the Hypertech and not too sure it it actually improves horsepower? The Ed Wright programming requires you to remove the pcm and ship it to him. Has a 2 to 3 day turnaround. Would appreciate comments from anyone with experience in this. Thanks
Ed is a small business owner in Tulsa and well known in this area for his tuning abilities. Drive here and let him personally tune it on his dyno. I bet it takes you less time to drive back to Austin after he tunes. Bill
Re: ED WRIGHT PROGRAMMING PCM FOR LT4 (Charles Klein)
Here is a quote from Ed when I asked him about the tuning on a LT4. Apparently the LT4 is tuned pretty good from the factory.
I seldom see more than ten rwhp on a stock LT4. The factory tuning is
pretty good for that one.

I gained 15 rwhp, 16 rwt. I doubt there is any more cost effective mod, even if it's 10 hp for $350. Below are the before and after graphs.
If you scale up my results, that would be over 200 rwhp for $5000 (to take a round figure). A lot of people spend $5000+ for less than 100 rwhp.
Also, remember that Ed Wright charges half price for additional programming.

Charles, Thanks for the response. The results as shown on the Dyno graphs speak for themselves. Ed Wright said in an email to me that on LT4's he normally sees 11 to 12 rwhp and on LT1's he sees 12 to 14 rwhp. That is good enough for me. Off comes my worthless Hypertech and I will be sending him my PCM for programming. He promises a 48 hours turnaround.
