I'm still debating on what I'm going to do to make this car faster and last time I posted I got great responses, which I appreciate. If I decide to do a motor build-up for this car I'm going to need some info. For example, I'd like to keep this motor in the car while I do a build-up so I need to know what kind of block to find to start one on. Obviously, I don't want to use a block that's of a less quality then this one and it would be easier if I could find a roller block. Do these motors have 2 or 4 bolt mains? What year and type blocks have you guys used in build-ups? Thanks.
you have a number of options, but before you spend money, check what a ZZ4 crate motor will do for ya... you may be suprised...
The ZZ4 is a 4 bolt, so is the L98... there is an advantage to getting a 2 bolt motor, you can machine the motor to accept the 2nd bolts, but, you can have them angled... never hurts.
again, check into how much a ZZ4 will cost, versus buying all the bits needed to build another L98... I would start with the L98 as the basis... either way, you can sell your original L98 for someone else to project on!
the ZZ4 will, if I remember correctly, work with injection. I would get a nice miniram... looks kinda like the LT1 intake... low, no long runners, etc...
What types of cranks, pistons, and rods are in this motor? Forged Pistons, cast steel crank, etc. Is it a two piece rear seal or a one? Are these motors identical to the IROC 350 and GTA L98? Thanks again..
