Default 85 t0 89 computer switch

I want to switch my 85 computer to a 89 computer. The 89 computer has a faster processor and is more reliable. I will also need to change the wireing harness from 85 to 89. Has anyone ever tried this, and if so can you assist me. Will I need to re-program the 89 chip to not include the Vatts system, since the 85 did not have it? :seeya

I can't help with the wiring but would suggest you get the GM shop manual for '85 and for '89. They could save some head aches.

You should also upgrade the ESC module (passenger side by the blower motor) per my C4 Tech Tip.

Block off the fuel rail where the 9th injector plugs in so you won't have to contend with a leaking injector here in the future. You could cut the line and cap it.

You might be able to dummy the VATS input with an appropriate 1/4W resistor.

Here's the site you want to visit to read about it:
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/ecm_swap/

It's on a Camaro, but the parts/build is the same...

And a couple of guys here have done it in the last year; try a search...
