Default speedometer problem

My 94 is indicating 30/40 mph too fast. It zero's ok at full stop. My mechanic
bypassed the speed sensor at the tranny and test drove with his instruments indicating no sensor malfunction. Essentially nothing was done except unplugging some connections for the test and subsequent reconnecting. Drove the beauty home, quess what? Ops normal. Ops normal for 3 weeks that is. Now same problem is back.
I'm wondering about a possible short at the electrical terminal at the tranny.
Maybe a shot of some electrical cleaner (RadioShack) would solve problem.
Appreciate some insight.

Lol... "sir.. do you know how fast you were going?" .... "110mph sir??"

Haha...

Anyway.. i would check the speed sensor on the tranny again. Might just go ahead and replace.. pretty cheap part. It is magnetically driven though, so I don't think it could be bad. Could be that or your dash/computer going out :(
