Re: (powerslide91)
Here's my two cents.
I've set my Harlan shiftlight (which I recommend) for 4500rpms and it comes on at an indicated 4700rpms. I think it is the tach itself but I'll stand open to correction.
If you know how to work with electronics properly (solder, splice into other wires, etc) you could do this at home. I always take longer to do a given job than most people but I installed mine in a night (it was a long night though :)). I used a combo of Hutch's web instructions and my service manual.
I have to relocate mine. I mounted mine (temporarily while I set it up - almost one year ago...) to the a-pillar using the lower screw that holds the interior trim panel on. It is a great spot vision-wise but the "temporary" install looks tacky (my fault).

Re: (Red 90 L98 Coupe)
Seeing my stock tach is off 500rpm! :U
I'm going to purchase an aftermarker tach with a shift light on it. Then clamp it to the steering column right in front of the stock POS! :smash: :smash:
I am hoping Santa brings the Autometer Dual Gauge pod for my car. I am going to try to modify it so that I can also install my harlan shift light, and fan control switch into it somehow.

Scorp, If Santa does not bring you the Dual pod.. I will sell you mine.. (never installed) for a good price
Scorp, you probably don't want a Harlan shift light so close to your face. The flucker is bright! Certainly don't want to be blinded while you are night driving.

That bright huh? :) I haven't even plugged it in to see. I've had it over a year now sitting on my desk. Hmmm.... what to do what to do.... perhaps I can put it elsewhere, or put a black film over it to cut out some of the light. Like the stuff you look at an eclipse with.

He speaks the truth. With my a-pillar mounting, I've angled the shiftlight so it doesn't shine directly in my eyes. It is fairly bright and could be a hinderance if not aimed sensibly. They really are bright enough that you can mount them behind A/C vents and still see them when it counts.
How bright is it? A friend was following me home one sunny day and despite being a few carlengths behind me and my having tinted windows, he swears he saw my shiftlight activate when I ran through first and second off a set of lights.
