Default Wheel Adapter/Spacer for 1986 Corvette

I had someone give me 4 chrome 5 Star 1999 Trans Am factory rims. I believe they are 56mm offset????. I would like to put them on my 86. Do I need spacer/adapters to run these wheels. If so what size do I need? I believe the 86 is 36mm offset. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks.

You will need adapters that are 3/4" thick to get the F-body wheels to sit properly in the wheelwell. Without them, the wheels will sit too far inboard. The 18mm difference in offset is the 3/4".

The adapters bolt to the hub using extra lugnuts. The adpaters have their own studs for attaching the wheel.

Some adapters come with an "acorn-style nut that sticks out past the face of the adapter flange. The wheels should have a recess on their mounting flange so that the nut will sit in the recess and allow the flanges to fit flush.

Good adapters can be pricey!

I am running a similar setup on my 89. 84-87 need spacers. I would use a 1.25" spacer adapter for a fuller wheel look if you are running 98 and up Trans Am or Camaro rims.

It's not that noticeable. Here is a pic of 90 wheels(similar offset) on my 86. It does look better with adapters, though.

Here is a pic with adapters on front. The previous set of 90's were replaced with this set from a 90 ZR1. The rears didn't require any adapters(wider and different offset).
