Default Help with WINALDL

I have an 86 roadster with basically a stock L98 aluminum head engine. I currently do not have a Check Engine Soon light and the car runs well and still performs very strong.

I have loaded WINALDL on my notebook and hooked it up with a purchased USB port connecting cable. The version I am running is 1.09f which is a 160 baud reader setup as follows:

* ECM type - 1227165
* COM port = 3
* Baud Rate = 4800
* the is a #5 in the box before the Configuration button

When I start the application (engine off, ignition key on) I get a reading of 122 all across the CT category. I get no other data reads. When I start the engine I get readings in the MW2, PROMIDB and CT categories. Every once in a while the reading of 255 floats across the screen in the MPH category. I get no other readings on any of the sensors or flag data. There are no readings in the Error code, BLM, INT, O2 or Spark Counts fields. When I click on the Dash Display there are no reading in the MAF, TPS or O2 displays.

As I do not have an owners manual for this software, I need some help in getting this application setup and working properly. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Default Finally Figured It Out....

Okay, I finally figured it out. You need to put a jumper between the A and B poles on the USB plug to get the full data transmission. The #5 is the volume of data received from the ECM. In this case 5 bytes. The more data that you receive from the ECM, the higher this number goes.

Once you install the jumber and make sure that your computer USB port is set up for 4800 baud, the software works like a dream. I am very pleased with the functionality of this free shareware software.

Here is a photo of the USB cable with the jumper installed.
