I am looking to replace the plugs on my 92, and really don't know what brand or range to get  Are the original AC's about the best, or should I get something like a Bosch platinum, or NGK? I noticed that the 92 shows to have a differnent plug in the Eckler's catalog, and it is very high for a set ($67) :bs . Why so high? Any help would really be appreciated, as this is my first LT1, and I really don't want to trash an Optispark just yet... Thanks in advance......
NGK, AC Rapidfired, Champion Gold, and Autolite Platinum are the best choices. Bosch plats don't work too well in LT1 engines. Stock heat range is okay unless you are running nitrous.
The stock AC's are terrible, I replaced my original set which was missing 6 out 8 platinum pucks at 30k with another set of the same last year, which promptly dumped 2 more pucks within a few thousand miles. I thought they would have fixed the problem in sometime between '92 and the next decade, but that was asking too much  . The general consensus is that the NGK's are good plugs.
Thanks for the replies  I'll probably try the NGK's, I think the car has about 40,000 on whatever is in it, that is the last record I can find that says they were changed. I am also assuming that it has AC's since a Chevy dealership did the work..Thanks again.
Re: Which spark plugs for 92 LT1????? (Chris@SpeedDemon)
Chris,
Would those take well to shaving down the top part? Don't know the term but supposidly shaving the top part that protrudes but still having the proper gap will give you a better burn, so more power and better gas economy.
Thanks
