I am looking for information on radio issues in a 1993 C4. Mine seems to fade in and out, and I'm not talking about the signal but the actual sound. It doesn't do it with CD's, just the radio. Has anyone experienced this and what did you do to fix it?
Is your antenna coming up all the way. Have you pinched the antenna cable either inside or outside the car in the rear. Or, has it got cut somewhere by doing some work in the rear? Check the antenna connection on the receiver behind the passenger seat, make sure its plugged in all the way.
My 1992 does the same thing. I live in a rural area far from the radio antennas. When I get closer to the sending antennas the problem goes away. My opinion is that it is just a reception problem. My last 1992 also had this problem, I sent the radio out for a $300.00 rebuild mainly because the CD player skipped on every bounce I hit. When I got the radio back after the rebuild, it still skipped and when on AM or FM still faded in and out. I think it is the nature of the beast when you are driving in a rural area.
