Default Engine Build Questions

some info please.
Im going to replace the short block on my 94. Going to a 383 W forged crank and pistons.
On stock Gm lt-1 are the pistons and cranks forged?

After 1985, the pistons are cast not forged. I know that through 1991, the end of the L98s, the cranks were all cast. I don't know about the LTx engines, but I suspect they were cast, also.

I believe the pistons are HYPEREUTECTIC which has about a 12.5% silicon base in the alloy.. Detonation is a killer.

Correct, but as you note, hypereutectic is the term for an alloy that is super saturated with silicon. It is a term used to describe the metallurgy. It is what they are are made OF, not HOW they are made. The manufacturing process for hypereutectic pistons is they are cast, not forged.
