It depends if it's a stick or automatic, what year of L98, and the mileage on the motor. 75k miles and it isn't exactly going to perform like day one, especially with an oil leak.

If he can't burn the tires, then there's something holding his car back and IMO I seriously doubt he has more than 170-180rwhp.

Take your time and learn how to drive it. Considering your last ride said "BMX" on it.

Any of Auto parts stores will have it - but I'll tell ya, they run from $35-$60. The light is what is expensive, and generally they come with a dye for oil, and a separate dye for coolant system diagnosis.

Which intake? Better yet, what do you even plan on doing with this car? If you want power, you need the money for it. Save up that $1000 for something good. Sure, you could blow it on a carb intake to gain some power, but you'll still be held back by the exhaust. Same thing goes for exhaust, you'll be flowing freely but won't have enough intake to make it worth a difference. You're going to need $3000+ to make this motor work good, not even mentioning the costs to maintain it.

On a side note, listen to CFI-EFI. Finish up your schooling so you have some knowledge behind you, and so we can understand you more clearly.
