I have an 84 I just brought and don't know a lot about it other than it sit in a warehouse. It has a slite miss at ldle speeds. The motor proformes strong on the the raod. It has 78K on it and I have changed the plugs and wires. Could it be the o2 sensor or what would you try next? It also has clean gas. I ran all the old gas out. Thanks for any help.
I'd start with a basic tuneup. As you already have. Plugs be sure to check the gap, wires and be sure not to cross any.
Change distributor cap and rotor. Change the fuel filter if it hasn't been changed.
That is very low mileage for it's age. As likely as anything it needs to go for a good hard run to blow it out. I can't image how a bad O2 sensor could cause your miss. How did the plugs look when you changed them? Were there any signs of oil or gasoline fouling? Are there any codes present? Often a miss can be caused by an intermittent vacuum leak. The Crossfire's idle quality can be quite sensitive to proper TB balancing.
When you changed your wires, how did the wire looms look? Were they in good shape or did your wires just lay there. I found that those looms were much more important than I gave them credit for. Cross talk on the spark could be occuring.
Also, #6 plug wire is kinda screwy where it attaches to the plug. I did not get mine attached just right and it burned under the boot. It had to be replaced...but that was my miss. Once it was cured the miss went away for good.
