has anyone had trouble with the length of the serpentine belt while replacing one? everything says it should be 66.7" (autozone) but that was too short. i got one that was 67.2" (kelly springfield) and it fit and is working fine.... i had to replace the tensioner pulley as well but since there was nothing left to that other than the inner/outer races of the bearing i had nothing to gauge if i got the right size pulley.
at least i know the battery is good, it went 23 miles on the battery alone!!! it did drop to 8 volts though till i got back to the house.....
Yup. Belt lengths are goofy. I needed to go by 'trial and error' when I removed my smog pump and installed overdrive pulleys. As long as you get one that fits properly, no worries.
It moves at the same linear speed which is based upon radial speed of the crank pulley.
BTW:
Prices vary widely. The belts a tick higher and a tick lower than the one I needed were almost double the price! One was made for a BMW or something. Mine was made for an Olds Cutlas.
