Default possible to use V6 prom w/programming?

I have a 89 ZF/TPI and want to replace the maf ecm with a 730. I only have the prom from the V6 to go in the 730. has anybody tried to use a V6 prom with G1 from moates to run V8 tables/programming? would the V6 prom work for the limp home mode? I should find the schematics somewhere and find out for myself but if anyone knows and has a quick answer it would be appreciated.

presently have the g1 and autoprom on my maf setup. i'm just too cheap to buy another memcal from gm.

best case if i could find another sd/730 V8 car here and plug and play and see if it works. but i don't know anyone here with that stuff everyone plays with honduhs and other rice cookers.

thanks,
kent

First, I can't even imagine a 6cyl.prom controling fuel and spark properly (based on values/tables etc.etc.) let alone anything else. I also don't understand the need to swap to a SD (727/730) stradegy ecm. I have tuned both types (sd and maf) and can say that I would never take on that type of swap.

A stock prom (sd, 1990-91) shouldn't be that hard to find, if not, you can download a stock bin file from tuner pro site or from moates.net and load (burn) it to a 512 type chip (5.00)since you already have a g1, and this part of it would become a plug and play
(provided of course you can pin in a 727/730 ecm in your 89 for starters).

HOWEVER that would be the easy part, you will additionally need to give the car a MAP, and MAT input to the 727/730 ecm (wiring harness?) in doing this conversion, which your 89 MAF stradegy 165 ecm/car does not have (not to mention possible other wiring/pin issues).
I am not aware of anyone who has done a conversion like this, but you can look around here (scroll down to DYI prom tuning and DFI and ECM): http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/?

I'm also curious why you'd want to do a 730 conversion in the first place. What is there to really be gained?

For high HP or forced induction application with a 165 ecm, I'm a fan of the Ford MAF conversion, but as far as I'm aware, I'm the only one running one.

Its fairly straight forward if you know what you are doing.
