I called Dr Don to get my HU and CDM fixed and he told me $130 and $190 respectively, when I told him I was a forum member; he said the price was the same.
Did I get a new guy or do we not get discounts anymore?
I had mine done a couple years back by DD and didn't get a discount then. The quality was second to none in both the repair and in shipping care!!! Can not go wrong with DD!
Consider this. Since you live in Orlando, check out Factory car stereo repair Inc. They are in Longwood and you can just drive there. They to repair car radios from all over also. I have used them for my CD player repair. Always got good phone support and talked to me in the shop about audio and electronics with out being rushed out. Even gave me a discount because I pulled the CD player out of the radio and he did not have to mess with the car. If I have a problem I can just walk it back in. 407-830-0777 800-428-1909.

I used these guys also for my CDM and all four amps. They do very good work also. Doctor Don did my head unit a couple of years after that. They both do very good work. You can't go wrong with either.
Doc Don has done work on the Bose radio and amps in my 89 Vette. Good work, communications and service. The only issue I had was the heavy "cigarette smell" of the parts when they were returned to me. Someone in his shop is a heavy smoker!
I do not think he was giving forum discounts when my work was done.
I Sent my CD player to Dr Don. Turn around was really fast.
I did notice that I did not get the same unit back that I had sent. Also after a while the CD player started to skip and loose tracks again.
It not as frequent as before and I just got my vette put back together. I don't feel like taking the dash apart again right now so I will live with it.
I'm sure he does good work, that is why I sent mine to him. I am also sure that he would take care of me should I send it back in to him.
I by no means want to be a buzz kill or slam anyone, but I also had sent my stereo to DD. My CD player no longer would eject the CDs. I got it back in great time and at the quoted price. But what I got back was a player that ejected Cds but unfortunately also skips at every little bump. Botts dots will cause it to skip
I never sent it back because I didn't have the funds to have the head unit R&R'd again. Now, after approx 3-4K miles, it's doing it again.
Would I use DD again? Probably. No one is truly 100% in anything and if I had the means, and if I approached him about this, based on what I've read I'm sure he'd do what he could to make good.
Now I am wondering about a non-stock unit, not that I could afford it
