I need some assistance with the fans on my '95 LT-1 'vert.
Background, I have owned and sold a '93 6-speed and a '96 LT-1 that were as stock as dirt. The fans would run and then shut off as normal, hot, but normal.
The '95 'vert w/49k miles has the fan come on @ 193/194 and stay on. The temp stays @ 193/194, but that dang fan is driving me nuts.
The previous owner said that the previous owner may have put a tuner in the car, or he may have changed the thermostat, or he may have changed the relay, or he may have done all of the above.
How do I determine if a Tuner was installed?
Without taking out the thermostat, how do I determine if it has been changed.
How do I determine if a lower temp fan relay has been installed?
Thank you all for your information, I'm lost here.
How do I determine if a lower temp fan relay has been installed?
And there is no such thing as a "lower temp fan relay". A relay is just a relay. A switch activated by power from a remote source. In this case the computer. Programming is the cause of your early fans activation.
You can "Read" the PCM with TunerCat or LT1 Edit software, this will tell the fan's on/off settings.
It sounds like the PCM has been reprogrammed to run a 160* thermostat. But, currently it's running a 180* stat that won't allow coolant temps to get low enough to deactivate the fan(s).
