Default RPM at speed question.

I have a 94 LT1 6speed coupe. I drove a customer's 95 LT1 today and his felt a bit like a dog. I was curious if the previous owner of mine could have changed the gears. I can run in 6th at 40 MPH with little to no bogging. My build decal says I have RPO GM3 3.45 rear gears from the factory.

I would like for you guys to chime in and test this for me. Let me know what RPMs you turn in 4th gear at 55 MPH. I am at 2500 to 2550.

I have a 91 with the same setup (6spd w/3:45 rear). I don't get out of work 'till 8pm, then straight to my little guys baseball game, so I'll let you know, but it won't be until about 10:30 est.

If you do the math 3.45 gears at 55MPH should be 2472 RPM.

Use this website to calculate the gear/speed table with your tire size. Select the ZF transmission.

Could be. I know that he still had the stock CAGS hooked up and it made me shift to 4th early. In mine, I can pull 4th from 15 mph, his just did not feel like it would.

Thanks for the help guys.

I really doubt that anyone would put 3.07 gears in a stock M6 LT1.

What other gear options were available in the LTx models?

The only gearset available for the M6 94-96 LT1/4 was 3.45:1. Some claim a few earlier M6 LT1's had a different gear, I've yet to see that proven.

Perhaps his car simply isn't in as good a tune as yours, causing the roughness at low rpm operation.
