Default my last newbie tire question, really!!

86 C-4, Ok I have the AFS 17x 9.5 ZR-1 style rims in black chrome coming. I bid a best offer at $700 and they accepted, seems like a decent price? I know the stock lugs will work or I can buy new ones. I saw some photos of VinceAD (thanks!) with 285/40 in rear and 275/40 front. His is a newer model. I like his look, just want to confirm these will cause no problems on an 86 before I purchase? IOtherwise I would go 275/40 all the way around. Not to concerned about ability to rotate. Thinking about going with Firestone Firehawk wide ovals. Seems like a good overall tire for the price and the light use this car will see.

Thanks for all the info everyone has provided.

if you want more traction use a stickier tire, falken's RT-615 comes to mind, it's cheap and grippier than the wide ovals. personally i would do 275s all the way around, you could do a 285 in the back but they are taller and bairly and i mean bairly wider. you also can't rotate as you had mentioned.

You could go with 285s all around and then you'll still be able to rotate.

I would definitly go that route if I were getting the wide ovals as they run small. A 285 wide oval is probably more narrow than most companies 275s.
