Default Can somebody help us with this darn tunercat?

We tried to tune my buddies 95 LT1 trans am and during the communication process it stops half way through . For some reason it can't communicate with the pcm. He has all the up to date files that tunercat sent him and he has the AKM cable. Tunercat was no help to him. Funny thing is that after it tries to communicate and fails the car won't start because the fuel pump won't cycle. After unhooking the battery for a while then the pump works again and the car will run, Any ideas would be great..

Do you have Datamaster? Try some scanning software first.

Also disable any virus software, maybe turn off Windows Firewall, stuff like that.

yea I think he has datamaster. I'll have him try that and also tell him to turn off the firewall and antivirus.

Make sure you have the correct definition file installed. I don't have my program in front of me right now. Try selecting a different comm port after a restart if possible.

There is a very good possibility that the Flash chip was damaged when communication was lost. I had this happen on an F-body flash last fall. The chip had to be replaced. If this proves to be your problem contact Andrew at AKM, he will replace the chip for an incredible deal for his customers.

From AKM's site.

"PCM REPAIR INFORMATION: Sometimes, programming gets interrupted when flashing an LT1 PCM. Unfortunately, it happens - due to a laptop thing (power saver mode; screen saver; anti-virus; battery dying), or the cable can be knocked loose. If it happens to you, email me and I'll try to help. I do know how to repair PCMs, but I honestly don't like doing so in a 'rushed manner' (as in, "I need this PCM shipped back to me by tomorrow or my head will implode!"). But if you need one repaired, shoot me an email, we can work something out."
