Default Accell Injectors

Need to make a quick decision on some injectors. Found a guy in Austin that has a set of 30# Accell's for $165 shipped. New they are like $240. Should I jump on this?

He says they have less than 100 miles on them.. tried to convert a carbed engine to FI, but he didn't know what he was doing, so went back to carb.

Input on this?

i've used the accel 24's & wound up going back to stock, the accel's leaked at higher psi & i really didn't like how the engine ran. since the fords are only a few bucks more i'd go that way. your getting OEM quality and an injector that in my oppinion is better quality.

30# should be fine.. I am using 30# SVO's on my 355 with out a problem.. it is all in the ECM/PCM tuning.. set the injector constant to 30# and you should be fine.. on mine I have the constant set to 32#.. worked fine so far

Nice thing about the larger injector is you will be able to keep the injectro at less then or close to 80% duty cycle at WOT

Actually, the main thing I'm wondering about is that they are Accell's. Are they a good enough injector usually? Or should I stick with the Ford's?

I'm running the Accel 26lbers on my new 355. Have had the pressure gauge taped to the windsheild for a few days now. Pressure stays steady, so I think there is no leaking. Car is running like crap tho. I still need to burn a new chip taking in to account the new flow rate as -=JEFF=- mentions above. You can literally smell it running way rich. I'm not 100% confident with the Accel's yet. But they were cheap $249.00.

It also says for Mildly modified cars up to 300 horsepower. I think you're upcoming 383 is gonna run a little over that.

Just me thinking here.

yeah, I found that out. I sent an e-mail to him and those are all stock # amounts. The 30# Ford injectors are $200 plus shipping. Still a good deal compared to even summit which wants $229 plus shipping. That leaves me with $30 extra bucks to pay for those sensors that need replacing.

I can only say my experience with Accel injectors was a bad one, 6 of 8 leaked. Just got FMS 30# in last night, checked for leaking, nadda, good to go now. JMHO

Ok, thanks. I'm passing on the Accell's and getting the SVO's for $200

Yes the Accel injectors are fine. I have no problems with mine, I have heard others with some small flashing problems, be an easy fix. I have two vettes both with accel injectors and have had no problems with either one. 165 is very cheap, vendors can't even buy them from Accel for that, I would jump on the deal.

I have Accel 36#s on my engine. They seem to work fine. If you look closely at the Accel and FMS, they look like they are made by the same co with different colored bodies.

FWIW-Had a phone conversation a little while ago w/owner of Marren (203-732-4565)
cuz I was looking for a source for some good injectors. After asking him 'bout Accel
brand (cuz they offered something in the Hi Imp. 50# area) he almost got 'tongue tied'
trying to speak. The story is when Accel was purchased some time ago, they were
bought by the mfr. Ram. For Ram it was a good match, they make injectors. Accel
injectors are now made by Ram. To make a short story long Marren requires a signed
statement from buyer w/understanding that after purchase of a set Accels, he/she is
on their own after purchase. (He) said the injectors are garbage and wouldn't put
them on his lawn mower. Marren's prices are on high side, but guaranteed to be
matched/balanced w/warranty. Accels are very economical. Buyer beware, you just
may get what you pay for! I will not/can not speak for Accels bought before buyout
took effect. BTW, Marren (according to owner) can sell you any brand available.

[/QUOTE]

Accels are more expensive than FMS injectors. 24# are 229 vs 219 for FMS. 30# are 249 vs 219 for FMS. Check Summit Racing prices.

I called Accel to find out whats the story with them. RAM is making their injectors. I also asked about quality issues. The Accel tech guy didn't say they had any but he did tell me they have been testing them before they go out so I suspect that they have had some issues in the past which matches up with what I have been reading here.

Now, I wonder who makes FMS injectors.
