I am replacing my injectors and I have the upper intake ready to come off except for the hard line that is in the back bottom of the intake that is connected to the brake booster. The problem is getting the line out of the intake because the fitting seems to be brass and I don't want to round the edges off. Any ideas before I destroy this thing by accident. Here is the problem
The fitting stays in and the part on the line unscrews, no trouble on mine though it's a bit tight to get a wrench there. I think you could unplug the rubber part of the hose and leave the fitting on as well but I've always just unscrewed the line from the fitting.
Go out and buy a wrench specifically used for removing these fitings. Can't remember the name, but they are like an open end with another set of grips. You can't slip it directly over the fitting like an open end, you slip it over the line and then down over the fitting. This wrench holds 4 sides of the fitting, where the open end only holds 2.
Keep the fitting in the plenum but use a LINE WRENCH on the other fitting. The LINE WRENCH will go just about all the way around the fitting and remove it alot easier. Pipe
Thats what everyones talking about, most commonly called a line wrench, sometimes refered to a crows foot or flare wrench. Those snap-on ones costed me a pretty penny but the craftsman version works just as well and won't break the bank
