Pavement that is not absolutely flat will cause the car to wander. Most roads that see lots of heavy trck traffic will have slight ruts from where the truck tires have worn the surface.

Wide tires will not sit evenly in the ruts and the tire edges may "grab" and cause the car to wander side to side. You can cut down some of this by adjusting tire pressure or using a bit more toe-in than the factory specs.

The Vette Brakes alignment specs for "Daily Driver" are just slightly more agressive than stock. I run the "Advanced Street" specs with a little more negative camber and I occasionally have to fight the steering wheel when I encounter roads that have ruts from heavy traffic.

Sometimes I will get closer to one lane edge just to avoid the ruts. You do have to be careful when the tire grabs a rut as the car will dart around very quickly.

The new Khumos scared the crap out of me the first drive or so. I thought I had broken something with the "wander".

Mine liked to wonder on anything other than a smooth road. Took it in for a four wheel alignment. The front was almost perfect but one rear was toed out a little. The Tech set the toe on both ends to factory. All is well. Later! Frank

Man, is that an understatement!

I used to drive sections of Rte 2 in Massachusetts that would scare the be-jeezes out of ya. 'Go to change lanes and the vette would literally hop into the next lane Kinda made you wonder if you were gonna get intimate with the guardrail

I use the "Advanced Street" settings for autocross and track days. I drive my 87 on the street (not a lot) and there doesn't seem to be any real adverse effects. It is "darty" however in that some of the roads around here (including the freeways) do have ruts from lots of truck traffic and the car will follow those ruts. My street/HPDE tires are 275/40-17 Kuhmo Ecsta MX and my autocross tires are Hoosier A3S04's in 255/50-16.

I can't tell too much from tire wear simply because of the A-X and track use. I really don't see a lot of street miles to see how the tires wear from just street driving.

If all of the front and rear suspension components (including front wheel bearings are new or like-new, I would say go with the Advance Street. But you may find that the car will feel "heavy" in that it will take a little extra effort to initiate a turn. I have a new Z51 steering rack and that makes a difference in steering feel.
