Default no overdrive

I got a call from the mechanic installing the new transmission in my car and he claims that on the lift he can not get the transmssion to go in to converter lock up, i think the problem is i have the coolant temp sensor on the front of the water pump unplugged due to it being bad when i dropped the car off and it would not run. Could this be causing the od problem

CTS is major input to run computer functions.Need to replace and confirm correct operation before looking at anything else.

I think without the CTS ,ECM would be in "limp home" mode.
Nearly ever major ECM operation has a temperature input to function.
