Default Mcleod Rst Clutch?

Anyone have any exp with the mcleod RSTstreet twin clutch?
They said it would handle up to 700hp and have a lighter pedal feel then the stock clutch.
They also have the RXT street twin that handles 1000hp.
This is for a 87 L98/4+3.
Car is stock now but im building a 396 or 383 for it so i want a clutch that i can use with the new motor.Car needs a clutch now.

And i know about the 4+3 being weak so PLEASE no 4+3 comments. Its staying in there until it breaks.
THANKS GUYS!

I used their twin in my 91 for awhile. It's a bit different because it's a ZF6, but I think the overall experience will be pretty much the same.

As far as streetability, the clutch is awesome. It drives great, and drives exceptional for a clutch that will withstand the power it will.

The bad news is that it WILL find the next weak link in your drive train. The clutch has ZERO give when you ask it to grab. The sudden smack of this clutch will break parts.

If you have the self control to slip the clutch every time you launch the car, then this clutch is unbeatable. If you're like me, and just dump the bastard and let her rip, then this isn't the clutch for you.

LOVE my Street Twin - she's a beast.

But it led to a solid axle swap.

Thanks for the reply guys.
Were you guys running the new RST/RXT series street twins or the reg street twins?
The new RST/RXT street twins, you can use with stock flywheel(for me anyway) and is supposed to have a lighter pedal then stock.
I dont have the power(yet) to break anything but ill keep what you guys are saying in mind.
Rite now i just want to buy a clutch to support the future upgrades so i dont have to buy another one down the road.

I did check out there forum and posted there. Thanks for the link.

I guess just a regular Street Twin is what I have, never saw those letters before.

Neat has posted this many times, and will probably chime in here, but power level seems to be irrelevant with the Mcleod. If you drop it, it WILL break something. I think he's broken spindles with around 250 HP or so???????

If you have BIG power in mind, it's great, but you will have to be veryYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY careful until you have a drivetrain that can support it.

That's what I want to go to for my blower engine.

I'm kinda worried about what will happen to the rear, but I'm going to stick with DOT tires, no slicks.

I made a thread about breakages I had, pretty much due to the McLeod Street Twin. I do not remember any other letters with it, but I bought it last year so it is pretty new.

As stated above, you will find your weakest links (spindles and half shafts) which might lead into a solid rear purchase.

Even with DOT street tires, it still happens, it did with my BFG KDW's.

Well i guess ill be upgrading other stuff as well in the future!

The rst/rxt street twin is the new series that just came out within the last year.
Like i said before,in most cases, you can use your stock flywheel or one of theres.
The RST is good to 800hp.
The RXT is good for 1000hp.
It does not give you that hard pedal like other twin disc clutches give you, they say its actually softer then stock.
I know its a new product so i just wanted to see if anyone had any exp with them yet.I cant imagine them being much different perf wise then the reg mcleod street twin though.

I think im going to give it a try,its $720 for the kit but does not come with flywheel.
I need to decide between a new steel or alum flywheel now!

Never had a problem with mine. Had it for over 7 years now. I got it upgraded to the 3-finger actuation when I sent it in to get rebuilt a few yrs ago.

A bit more on/off than a stock clutch, but I've used it with an L98/150 shot, a 421 small block and now a 360 small block.

No breakages running BFG DR's. All other driveline and suspension components are stock. I do flog it, but I don't abuse it.
