Is it worth it ?
I rebuild my L98 and im driving fine,i like its mpg,i like its power but i think it can perform better.-
i put flat top hypereuctectic pistons and the ZZ4 Cam.-
i dont want to affect the mpg,but i want more power, more "SOTP" Feel, and maybe more even better mileage at low throttle.-
i am thinking about getting a custom chip....or should i go for the hypertech street ?
what you suggest ? what's better? im all ears...
thanks

Take money , stand in street and set fire to it = more satisfaction than Hypertech chip
A custom tune MAY tidy up what you already have but if it is driving alright will not give you SOTP improvement you seek.
As I told you before you bought the cam , the MAF system is very flexible and will adjust to a reasonable level of mods before you need a custom chip. You have proven this by going to a larger than stock cam and as you state it runs fine.
How much advance are you running on the distributer?

I have looked at a hypertech and am not a fan of that product.
MO, if you are interested in this area, instead of buying a 'chip' spend the time and save your money and learn how to DIY.
thanks guys
its a 1987 L98
The advance its strange ....i dont know why ...i tried to put the timing at 8° with the timing light ....but the timing its crazy,it moves a lot !!!!!
i dont know how to keep it quiet.
Yes i would love to have more SOTP feel ! thanks please guide me

Did you disconnect the spark control connector while trying to set timing?
If not then computer is still adjusting spark which will give you crazy readings.
"Yes i would love to have more SOTP feel"
Have you done exhaust yet; headers and free flowing mufflers.Wakes a L98 up.
You will only get a major SOTP feel with more mods =$$$.
Intake change / bigger cam /etc.

Yes.
Disconnecting the the spark control connector you should have a code stored on ECM.
Once corrected the initial advance with timing light and turning the distributor accordingly, remove the battery cable (to clear the code) and connect again the the spark control connector. Now re-connect again the battery cable.
A custom chip can add a lot to your car. On my 91, with only long tube headers, no cats, and the emissions stuff gone; a custom dyno tune yielded 31 more RWHP and 50 more RWTQ.
I did the tune myself though, so I was pretty thorough. All in all, I made 41 pulls on the dyno dialing the tune in.
Since you have more mods than I do, I would think a custom tune could really help you out.
You're MAF right? You might not see the results that I did because my car is speed density. The speed density cars don't adapt to mods as well as the MAF cars do, but I still think you can see some great gains from a custom tune.
Best one out there is: pcmforless.com (Alvin). He has several options. I got the $220 set, chip, and unlimited tunes and adjustments. Do a datamaster dump and sent to him and he can tune to that, his site has all the info.
