Default Current drain issue.....

at the 30 amp fused by-pass on the battery quick disconnect. Keeps blowing that fuse. Only draws on the battery are: ECM, security, & panasonic head. (presets & clock) Got to be a massive short somewhere!
14 year old wiring probably not helping matters either. Chime in w your
suggestions please.

When looking for a short circuit, it's a pain in the tail to keep blowing fuses! I wired up the good filament of an old headlight to an old blown fuse, so I can plug this rewired fuse into the offending circuit. If there's no short circuit, the low resistance of the headlight will allow the device (radio, light, or whatever) to work normally. When the short happens, the headlight will illuminate, but nothing will smoke! This is really handy when you're looking for an intermittant short. When you wiggle a wire and the light flashes, you're on the right track!

1st take the wire from the HU and hook it up directly with the battery and put a 5amp fuse in between. Never hook up anything to a fuse where it was not intended, you can cause all kinds of problems that way. Then start at the farthest point of each device connected to the fuse and check voltage and ohms and then work your way back to the fuse, I think you will find a loose or corroded wire or ground.
