Default '85 With No Oil Temp Reading

I'm the new owner of an '85 automatic. I'm slowly but surely getting the engine issues resolved, along with many other issue.

Here's my problem:

I'm getting oil pressure readings on my instrument display, but I'm not getting any oil temperature reading...it just displays 0 degrees. Can someone tell me where the oil temperature sensor is located and the color wire that is attached to the sensor.

The engine has been changed out with a pre '81 non-Corvette engine...that's what I was told...because the dip stick is on the wrong side. The engine harness was not changed out. There is some type of sensor on the left-middle side of the block with a single terminal green wire attached to it...is that it?

I ran the engine until the coolant temp was 180 degrees, from what I've read in an earlier Corvette Forum thread, the oil temp should be about 10-20 degrees hotter than the coolant temp.

Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like you found the sensor. Single wire plugs into it just next to the oil filter.

If I remove the sensor will oil come dribbling or gushing out? I understand most of it collects in the oil pan.

The sensor is higher than the oil pan.

The oil takes a long time to heat up compared to the coolant.

May not be running long enough or able to get to temp in the garage.

Oil will only come out if you remove it with the engine running.
It simply screws out. Put thread sealant on the threads of the new one.
