Default Front Suspension Upgrades

First post on Corvette Forum. I'm going through the suspension on my 1985 Z51. Is it possible to use a front spring from a 1988 and later C4, or is there some difference in the dimensions? Also has anyone completely upgraded the early C4 suspension to the 1988 and later specs? It seems that there is alot more availability in parts and better prices to boot. Thanks.

rear springs are universal 84-96, the fronts are different on the newer vs older suspension. VBP sells both styles and can create any spring rate you are after. nice factory springs while not impossible to find are starting to get rare due to age and the mileage, they crack eventually. i just replaced both of my springs with higher rate VBP stuff, did the poly bushings, koni shocks etc. car is night and day different to drive.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping the front spring would also be universal for C4's, but I didn't think so. VBP products have worked pretty well for me. I did the full performance suspension on my '66 and am pretty happy with it. I was trying to decide between a quality rebuild of the '85 or trying to update to some newer C4 parts. I'll probably go with some VBP parts and the C5 brake upgrade.
