I just purchased an '88 C4 in cherry condition and I am going through the learning process. The first thing I am checking is a noise at the rear end. Every time I come to a stop it sounds like a rock popping out from under the tire. Even with the windows down it sounds just like that. It has a rebuilt 700-r4 with shift kit and a factory 3:07 rear. Is this normal or is a axle shaft or ring and pinion problem starting. There doesn't seem to be any problems while in motion and the car doesn't jerk or anything just a audible
pop while coming to a stop.
