Default TPI to Carb electrical swap

I've recently just swapped my '90 L98 to a carburated setup. After I did that, I realized that after removing my computer I'm going to have to rewire some of the car. What exactly does that entail? and how am is it supposed to be done?! lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the speedometer still work? I wouldn't have removed the computer, it can still control the timing.

I'm still working on the buildup, so I don't know about the speedo yet. I disconnected the ECU because I've got a new MSD ignition that should handle that job fine, but what else am I going to have to worry about with changing to a carburated setup?

Why remove the computer? and no, it wouldn't still handle the timing.

the speedo will still work. MPG computer will not work

So, basically if I keep the ECU hooked up and just disconnect all the engine control sensors I should be good right?

The ECM (computer) can still handle the timing just fine. It wont' even know the injectors are not there. Even lack of TPS will still get the normal and extended spark map. I've used these ECMs to control just timing on a few carb applications because they are a LOT nicer to tune.

The speedo is wired into the ECM, which then sends a modified signal to the CCM, which runs the LCD on his dash. The speedo will not 'work' as in read roadspeed or increase miles, my question to him was did it even illuminate when the CCM lost connectivity to the ECM or did it go into error mode. I'm thinking it probably reads the odometer since he still has the CCM in place but is flashing 'sys' on the DIC. Unless he wires the VSS to provide a 4k PPM signal on pin E2 of the CCM it won't work.

That is what I would do. There is another guy on here, Iroc57 I think his nick is, who has the same year as you with a carb swap. There is some complexity with the ECM vs CCM on your year, and I think it would be easier for you to just run the harness as-is leaving the injectors, TPS, and IAC unplugged. Obviously some things won't check out, and it will probably set a TPS code, but unless you want to really dive in with the wiring it's the easiest route.

Leave the computer.
The computer you need for the in fuel tank pump, the gas gauge the oil presure ,the volts, and so on.
If you want to remove the ecm then go ahead ,you just have to hook everything up on different gauges and redo your dash.I just left mine in place and hooked up my temp ,oil, and all that ,which is the same as factory. Why make work for yourself.

Because I'm also replacing my dash with analog guages, I've taken out the ECM because it eliminates a ton of wiring. I'm gonna be making a custom dash and door panels. Should be a nice streetable race car. I'm thinking that the car should weigh in at 2700 lbs because the entire dash, interior, radio. speakers, carpet, panels and A/C are gone. All the wiring that was in the car originally was totally sickening.

I'm going to have mine weighed as a matter of curiosity too. I have the dash still and the radio but ditched most everything else and have aluminum heads. 2700 might be a stretch for me... I'd like to know where you end up.
