always the first time i put in in 1st gear after starting it up, at about 1700rpms, the overdrive kicks on. i usually just put it in netrual and click it off real quick and its fine until i start the car up again.
now, the buttons not turning it off?
any idea whats going on here?
First off, I like the color you chose for your vette.
Is your switch in the shifter or the console? The shifter switch is a little hard to find and more detailed to install then the console one. Search here for OD switch. There are plenty of threads related to this.
I'm not sure about the 87's but on my 88, until the engine reaches 123 degrees, it won't go into OD.
The shifter mounted switch is not easy to find. E-Bay might be the best bet. Before you do that though, when you press the button, does the OD indicator light come on? If the light comes on then the switch is good and the problem lies elsewhere.
The usual cause is the Relay. It will also act erratic if the fluid level is too low. A switch; if broken, can be replaced by one from Radio Shack. Sorry,I don't remember the part#.
thanks guys.
i just got down to the switch and the 2 electric wires connected to it were both split in half, so im gonna assume thats why the button wasnt working.
is the fluid your talking about the same as the clutch fluid that goes into the master cyl.? where is it?
thanks guys.

I hope you counted the number of turns it took to remove that "T" rod.....
