Default pipe

I have an 86, and I replaced the right exhaust manifold with one from an 89. The egr pipe bolts on, no clamp. Both ends look the same, just exactly like the end that bolts on your intake manifold.
There is a short stand pipe on the exhaust manifold with a flange that has two threaded holes for the bolts just like the intake. It makes it a lot easier to adjust the valves as well. Everything bolts on, no clamp, no welding, no hassle. You just have to change out the r/h exhaust manifold, and it bolts to the existing Y pipe with the precats.

It sounds like one of the pipes is a little out of round; do a careful inspection, especially of the end of the new EGR tube.

I don't think a putty would last due to the high exhaust heat but you might try some exhaust repair putty??

I think I have the same thing on my 86L. I hear the ticking and the clamp seems loose. I like the bolt on but do not want to change manifolds. I would replace the clamp but the crimping tool looks pretty intense. Should I take it to an exhaust shop?
