Every once in a while, I see a thread asking how well a c4 holds up. On my way home from the track at midnight, I was thinking about the good times I have had over the past 17 years with my 87.
I have been down the track thousands of times during that time, over 75 bottles of nitrous, put more miles on it than I care to post, vacations 1000+ miles from home, autocrossed, road raced, daily driven etc. Still runs like a Timex.
Gm did good
My 86E has 284XXX miles on it. I recently found out that since I bought the car about a year and a half ago it had been running on 7 cylinders because of a bad plug and I had put almost 10K miles on the thing. Now that I replaced the plugs it's running like a rocketship. I will soon be putting 1.6 roller tips in it and working on the suspension to get it ready for track days at Mid Ohio. I can't believe this thing still runs like a champ after all these years and abuse.

I agree that these early C4's are great cars. My last one was an 87. I drove across country with over 100,000 miles on it. My 85 only has 50,000 miles on it so I figure it's got another 150,000 in it. Fun cars to drive and very reliable. Hopefully I haven't jinxed myself.
I've had to make a few adjustments, since the new tranny was installed. But other than that, it always starts and never ceases to put a smile on my face.
Impressive, thats a lot of "driving" 75 bottles of NOS, daily driving and still goes. How many miles does it have?
I guy with a L98 Z28 Automatic wanted to stroke it to 383 so he tried to blow it up to expedite the process by reving and abuse daily. He tried for about a month and gave up. I saw him driving that car from 1994-1996, the L98 won against the abuse.
