TPI runner gaskets, do you guys install them dry, or with gasket adhesive, or anything special? I'm talking about the upper and lower gaskets on the runners.
I heard of using wheel bearing grease to prevent vacumme leaks. Just spread grease all over the gaskets and mating surfaces, and bolt it back together.. I figured gasket adhesive would work as well.
my motor with 100,000 miles, I already spent 10 hours scraping gaskets, and I did gouge the aluminum more than once, that's why I'm concerned about vacumme leaks.....
In the future, get 6+ inch bench grinder...put a good wire wheel on one end and use that to clean the gaskets off your parts. It wont gouge the metal like a hand held scraper can.
For those that dont know, here is a bench grinder...I added a good wire wheel on one end,and use it to to clean transmission pans, intake parts and etc to get the gaskets completely off.
I'm sure there's no problems right after install, putting gaskets in dry.
I'm sure there's no problems right after install, putting gaskets in with a thin film of grease, and I think you'll better accommodate the 'flex' that L98 has in its components, and thereby retain the 'seal'.
Suggest you use Fel Pro gaskets and put 'em in dry. The Fel Pro runner gaskets have some positioning pins built into the gaskets that really help align the parts during assembly.
