My daughter drives a 90 vert. It has the original radiator that just blew out. Which is a good radiator to replace it with?. The car like most has a heating issue in trafic. Is it difficult to replace? We plan to put a lower temp thermostat and a manual fan switch for the summer. Do they make a larger radiator for it or is stock or aftermarket OK.
thanks
cal and Megan
I have a BeCool, and am happy with it. No mods to put in my 89!
Also have manuel fan switch. Helps in the High Desert.
You are about 15 miles from me if you want to see the install.

be cool and dewit are great rads. and are also around 500.+ Unless you have a some serious mods, or live in a hot climate zone it isn't really needed.
If everything is right in the system, lowered fans settings, a stock one works fine. On a 98*+ day here, mine doesn't go over 195*/198*.
Corvette recycler has a post in parts, he is selling N.O.S. for about 100. plus shipping.
I replaced mine with the factory plastic tank from a local corvette store. It runs like chevy intended to. Stay away from aftermarket parts, its a corvette for gods sake!

Do you mean the overfill tank? Isn't the radiator itself metallic? I may be mistaken.
And to answer the other part of the question, it is a very easy replacement. It doesn't sound like you've taken the old one out. When you do, you will probably see why it had trouble keeping temps down.

I have a 90 vert (heavily modified) and i have a DeWitts.
Perfect fit....or better Direct Fit.
-Beppe-
Go w the double row Dewitts.(160 TS & fan switch not needed) No plastic in this baby. BC similar. Have never squared w the contention the C-4 was designed to cycle hot occasionally. This mod is instant gratification.(94 LT1 6sp) As to direct fit..yes the rad slipped right in, however my fan shroud baffles needed some trimming as indicated in instructions. If you don't get 20-30 temp drops you've got other problems.Your cooling problems will be history so it cost you $500, it only costs 3 to 5 times more to go first class. You choose the Corvette not a Yugo, you get what ya paid for.
Cheers

I used this Silla from autoparts warehouse.cost $110,free delivery, all aluminum and included the low water sensor.Works great in Florida heat and dropped straight in.Why spend $500+?
Because some people want to upgrade to double row. The one you bought is a single row, just like the stock unit. If the goal is simply to get away from plastic end tanks, then I guess the silla isn't a bad choice.
many times the overheating is caused by dirty OE radiators that just fill up with grime over the years. the air gun and pressure washer do wonders to the fins if you remove the radiator and shoot all that junk out of the fins. our local vendor corvette recycling also is selling new old stock corvette radiators for $99. this is the route i would choose since it is cheap, new and will fix the overheating problem. if it doesn't do so, you have other problems. if you want to spend 5 times that then the dewitt, griffin and ron davis are worth a look. for track use, they are a great idea. in your app....i doubt you will need it. i'm not really sure why the plastic end caps get such a bad rap on the OE stuff. look how long they last. the china aftermarket junk i can understand but the OEM's are a decent unit. i mean....if your car gets so hot you blow end tanks out....your motor isn't going to live long.

Try some extended stop & go in traffic this summer and report back w that single row bargain. Its built like the one you removed sans the plastic.
Cheers

To cool down these c4 , you have to do more then just change the radiator, if you want to get in the 190 range, witch will extend the life under the hood by about 10 years, you have to go with the whole package, rad , waterpump, thermostate, fan sensor and fan upgrade
