If you want more bumps you can put the Z51 shocks on, they would be good for track use. There was just a thread on '88 shocks and the differences, just scroll down. Also if you are going to lower your car I remember seeing shocks listed as 1" less for lowered '88.

I have a Z51 and I say don't do it for a base suspension. Get HD's if you can find them.
I picked the 88 up in Jan this year. and have been autocrossing it.. it badly needs Stocks.. so if it too stiff as many think it is .. is not a problem to me.. my 84 Z28 is just as stiff with Koni and poly bushings..
I find it funny that only the 88' is listed by itself as the other years cover a few years... can anyone explain why ?
no, the mounts are the same. the 88 just uses a weird front perch up top from what i gather. also the bilstein z51s really aren't that tight of a shock, in my opinion they don't have enough rebound for the mid year z51 springs...bouncy they are. i much prefer the koni. the car i have came with a low mile set of z51 shocks...sold em, bought konis, much happier.
