I got a bad rear wheel bearing after only a couple of years and about 7,000 miles.
Are the H.P. bearings list on eBay (Wheel Bearings Direct) still the best ones to get?
There was a lot of discussion here a while back about them having tapered bearings instead of ball bearings, but there is no mention of this on the ebay listing.
They are up to $185 each, but if they will last, I'll buy two.
I just installed one of these H.P. bearings from Wheel Bearings Inc./Wheel Bearings Direct thursday night. I got 2 just before the price went up. My original was broken at the inner race and splines.
It looks to be a nice bearing. I haven't gotten around to installing to the other side yet, but will be doing so shortly.
Hopefully they will hold up to some abuse.

I installed both sides and so far, they made a real difference. I had a slight vibration and found excessive play in the old bearings which were also starting to howl. Now it is vibration free and zero play. They seem like good bearings. Don't worry about price increases, it's a way of life now a days. I just wish my income would increase at the same rate.
