Question: Do you need to unhook the battery when you use a battery tender (say a 1 or 2 amp charger just to keep the battery from going dead when you let your car sit up for a few weeks) ???
This is for a 1993 LT1, but the question might apply to any C4.
My experience with and '88 and an '89 has let me to belive that removing the battery (or just unhooking the posative lead) will give you better results. These cars have a lot of electronics that need to be fed constantly. For a short time (2-6 weeks) if your batter is in good condition, you shouldn't need a charger of any kind. However, for the winter this is what I do with mine.

Mine is on when ever the car is parked. I wired a quick disconnect permanently on the battery. Never a problem and the battery is always ready to go. Whether its parked for a few days or weeks.

I have done the same.....less strain on the alternator...

Thanks.
If your batery is taking a crap after only a few weeks of non-activity, do yourself a favor and replace the battery. They are cheap enough and you don't want it to die miles from home.

When it comes to batteries, if in doubt - replace!
