I'm just finishing up installing these. I wanted to get max headroom, here is the bracket installed:
I had to put six washers under the front bolts to the double locking sliders to clear the bracket nut. I would have liked the bracket designed differently. I was tempted to install the sliders without brackets but thought I'd check the headroom first. Having the seats shaved 1.5" and the bracket installed this way, I have about 3/4" more headroom then I did stock. My helmet doesn't hit the roof now!
The stock rear studs had be cut off since they stuck up so high and limited rearward travel of the seat.
I thought I'd post this since I have read in the past about these seats being to tall.

more pics more pics !!!!!!!!!!! i've been thinking of using a pair of these myself. get some good interior shots up when you can. i'd really like to see how the job turns out.
How did you shave the seats, and was the bracket purchased with the seats or fabbed? I hate my sport seats, they are waaayy too tall after the new foam and leather!!!!
And they offer the shaved seat option. I asked for the max possible and got 1.5". The bracket came that way. Since mine is a track car I got the sub belt hole and double locking sliders.
I am around 6'3" and have good headroom with a helmet now. A guy 6'5" sat in there today and he had a few inches of headroom without a helmet. I am thinking his height would be OK but that'd be it with a helmet.
I started a switch panel instead of the radio too.

I'm in the middle of installing a pair of Corbeau Forza's in my 87. The Forza is a fixed-back race seat and I would really like to get more angle to the seat.
My sliders came with 6 washers between the bolts but the bolts themselves were tiny Grade 5 but only 1/4". I've hogged out the holes to take 5/16" bolts and might go to a 3/8" bolt.
Did you cut out the section of carpet under the Corbeau bracket? If so, why did you do it??
Nice job. In comparison to the original seats would you say your new seats are as comfortable? What was the total time spent on the install of the new seats?
I cut the carpet out to get all the headroom I could. It turned out to not really matter since the head of the bracket to slider bolt sticks out the bottom of the bracket onto the floorboard. It still makes a minor difference in height and weight. There were some rust spots to take care of to and a dent.
How does a five point harness all mount together? I have not used one or installed one before.
The seats are very comfortable, I think for a long ride they are not as soft on the seat bones!
It took me a long time to get the nut onto the bolt installing the seats this way. I had to push the nut onto the bolt with my thumb then very carefully turn it. This took a few tries! If you didn't care about getting max headroom then this would install very fast.
To install a 5-point harness, you need a harness bar of some sort. That bar installs behind the seats and uses the bolts that hold the factory shoulder belts. With most harness bars there are additional small bracing bars to keep the harness bar from rotating.
The lap belts install using the lower factory seat belt bolts. The factory seat belts are retained when the harness is installed using the stock seat belt bolts.
The shoulder harness straps go thru the holes in the set back and the lap belts (with your seats) simply come up where the seat base and seat back meet.
The sub strap goes thru the hole in the seat base and down to a mounting point on the floor. I would assume that the sub belt simply loops around the front bar of the Corbeau mounting bracket.
While the Corbeau base is made from 3/16"x 1" flat bar stock and the welds look to be of good quailty, I was curious if there would be a better way to mount the sub belt.
I've started making a harness bar. Do you think the two studs on each side of the wheel well are enough connected together with a bar? I have removed the targa storage bracket there. I am starting with a tube between those two points for a harness bar.
By lower factory seat belt bolts, do you mean I would remove the Torx bolt holding the stock latching strap on? And the retract box on the other side?
You can shim the seat under the slider to, but may need longer bracket to slider to bolts for a lot of height.
The last rain track event I did the car got pretty wet with the windows open. The carpet took a week to dry. Leave out the carpet around the steel area under the seat, this will make drying out easy.
The factory torx bolts that hold the OEM shoulder belts are the typical mounting points for the harness bar and those bolts are strong enough. Many aftermarket bars use the targa top storage bracket bolts to attach small bars or straps to keep the bar from rotating.
The lower torx bolts that hold the seatbelts in place are also used for the harness lap belts. Just remove the bolts, attach whaever brackets that come with the harness belts and put the bolts back in. The factory seatbelts are retained by the same bolt. Usually, the harness brackets go between the bolt head and the factory seatbelts.
You do have to keep the factory seat belts for street driving. There are no 5 or 6 point harness belts that I know of that are DOT certified for street use. Most state seat belt laws will specifically state that harnesses are not legal for highway use.
I can't wait! The last track event I did I found I was really limited without one. I'm getting pretty excited about the NCM event coming up in Aug. I've been prepping for that.
The latch strap by the trans is easy enough but how do you put a bracket under the retract belt part by the door?
The outside belt with the retractor has the same torx bolt as the latch (tunnel) side. The harness bracket slides onto the bolt then you re-install the ratchet assembly and tightem the bolt.
I have to finish my seat install and I will get some pics of how my G-Force harness attaches and post them here.
