My friend who doesn't have a computer did the conversion and needs some help.
Hi Wayne:
I have just converted my 1984 Vette to Blue Tag ZF Six Speed.
My problem is that I cannot get a clutch pedal.
I used 1995 Blue Tag ZF 91-96 Hydraulics
New ZR1 Clutch and pressure plate, retaining my original fly wheel.
Could someone who has done this conversion, please tell me how they got by the clutch problem?
Thanks Richard Forster
If anyone can shed some light on this it would be great.
I have just started this conversion on my 85. It seems that you have used all the right parts so it should work. Is the pedal soft, like you are unable to build pressure? If so try backbleeding, pushing the clutch fluid from th slave to the master. Also make sure your clutch hose/line is clear. Central Coaster has done this conversion and seems to be the pull clutch expert.
You need to make sure to use the spacer between the clutch master cylinder and the firewall. If you hold the master cylinder next to the old 4+3 master it looks like you don't need that spacer in there. But, it's an optical illusion or something. The spacer is about a 1/4" thick and fits between the master and the firewall and the two bolts that hold the master go through this spacer. I was helping my son do this conversion and we didn't put the spacer in and couldn't get the clutch pedal to push the fluid through. We finally figured out it needs the spacer. You'll need to adjust the cruise control cutoff switch that hits the clutch pedal too because the clutch pedal is going to rest in a bit different position than the 4+3 does.
