I've been having this problem just recently now that the weather is getting warmer. Car runs fine and starts fine when cold, but once up to op temp it doesnt want to restart, just turns over and sputters a bit. I've checked the fuel system completely and cant find anything wrong, fuel pressure holds at about 25 psi (which i'm assuming is normal for '85) and upon shutdown it takes over an hour to drop completely to 0. It has a miss as well thats been there for a long time. I think i've narrowed it down to 2 possible causes but need some help. I think it might it be a bad ignition module or a bad cold start valve. If it is a bad cold start valve can I just unplug it?
If the thermo switch is causing the problem, unplugging it will work. If it's mechanical, than it won't matter.
You should be able to diagnose the electrical side with little grief.http://members.shaw.ca/corvette86/Co...rt%20Valve.pdf
the 85 running fuel pressure should be 36psi all other c4's till 96 use 43.5.. this is why the 85 has a 24lb injector and 86-92 up uses a 22. on the 85 the 24lb injector only flows 21.45lb at the lower pressure.
Tested the Cold Start Valve circuit and its in good working order. Thanks for the FSM page
I also removed the CSV and primed the fuel pump, its not leaking. I started the car and shut it off, then took the vacuum hose of the regulator. It doesnt smell of gas.
Car still runs fine except for the miss and non restart when hot.
