Default Floor damage

I am replacing the entire interior in my '94 and after removing the carpet I noticed a big bulge in the floor. Looks like somone put the jack in the wrong place

I want to fix it myself if possible, what's the best way to get it flat. I don't need it to be perfect as carpet is going over. My only thought was to get a big hammer and hit it but that doesn't seem like the best approach and it might weaken the metal even more.

Just looked at the floor of my 1991 fixed head and found there was very little metal. Mainly large plastic panels. Some strips of metal along some parts. However according to the shop manual the convertible has steel cross braces under the floor.Anyway the best way to pop back any metal is by slow pressure.Builders have a sort of jack they use to hold up unsupported floors. Rent one and remove the targa roof and place car under a strong roof support. Place the jack between the roof and the car floor and slowly build up pressure to pop the metal back.

are your front seats level? reason i ask is i posted earlier saying that my seats both lean slightly towards the centre console rubbing the arm rest, and it was suggested that my car may have been jacked in wrong place too, causing floor to be un even where the seat rails are.

I don't think that the C4 has a metal floor, I think it's a composite tub

The frame rails are steel, I think the floor is a one peice tub

On my car the floor under the seat is steel. The area under the pedals is fibre. This one is easy, just take a magnet to the bottom of the car. There was a dent in mine making the seat lean as well. A hammer fixed it. Don't forget to treat any rust and paint any bare metal. A piece of plywood would help spread out the hammer load on a large dent.

oh rite, looks like that may be the problem then, we have crap jacks here, i expect thats what happend. because thinking about it, if you jack along the sills it would push up the outers of the seats. and yours looks the same as mine so i guess i have steel floors too. thanks for the info.

On mine jacking along the sill where the jack point is labeled, does not hurt anything at all. You could try a very strong suction cup like for repairing body damage. But the seats on mine only took a few mins to remove, if you want to fix the dent. Four easy to get at 13 MM nuts, IIRC.

My seats seem level, the floor is metal where the dent it, other parts around it are SMC or some kind of composite.

As far as removing the seats it's a piece of cake, just 4 nuts to remove and a few connectors. I'll try placing a piece of wood and hammer it in

When I changed the interior of my 85 the floor was dented. The passenger seat leaned twards the driver. I beat the floor down with a chunk of 4X4 and a bfh. The floor under the seat was metal.
