Hello,
Come January 2nd i will replaceing my rear y-pipe on my 84. Considering mine has quite a few rust holes, it is time. My question is how much experiance is needed for this job. I will be doing this in AutoShop class. We have a lift and everything. Any tips you might have would be greatly appreciated.
It's a very straight forward job. There are 2 bolts holding the pipe to the cat, and 1 clamp per muffler holding them to the pipe. No hidden tricks. But the odds of getting your stock mufflers off the old pipe and fitting them to the new pipe may leave you wondering. More than likely they are rusted to the pipe and will have to be cut off. You may have to get them welded back on or either get new ones.
